How's that for my longest blog silence yet? Not sure why my blogging has been so sporadic these days...I suppose I could blame it on a number of things: working a lot, ACTUALLY STUDYING this year (gasp), dealing with some health issues, preparing for my little bro's WEDDING (next weekend!), and, of course, sludging my way through my application (which, praise the Lord, I finally finished and had my final interview on Friday! Will keep everyone posted on the outcome). Plus, when the only blog entries that come to me are basically a cynical commentary on daily life, usually to do with the crazy people at the pool, I'm thankful to have enough wisdom to know that sometimes it's just better to stay silent!
But enough with excuses, the real reason I'm breaking my month-long blog silence is to proclaim an AMAZING DISCOVERY that I made tonight while translating Matthew 13:45. Yes, this could be what makes my name known in Biblical Studies. Now, I know that most translations say something to the effect of, "...the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine PEARLS..." but it should actually read, "...the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine MARGARITAS..." Big difference, in my opinion. Check the Greek yourself! (ok, ok, nerdy seminary joke)
Machen anecdote for the evening: Upon returning from her "theological pizza and gourd carving party" tonight, Sarah presented Tiff with a glowing pumpkin because, said she, Tiff was working so hard on her monster paper. Pouting, I said, "I'M working on my monster paper too," to which Gretchen interjected, "Yes well, your roommate is a BIRD and Tiffany's roommate is a HUMAN." A funny girl, that Gretchen.
